SUMMARY:Common Ground Seminar
DESCRIPTION:The CSU Center for Collaborative Conservation ( https://collaborativeconservation.org/ ) and the CSU Chapter of the Society for Conservation Biology ( https://warnercnr.colostate.edu/student-organizations/society-conservation-biology/ ) invite the campus community to explore the power and promise of collaborative conservation on Dec. 2.\nFrom 4-5:30 p.m. in LSC 390, the inaugural Common Ground Seminar will offer an inspiring look at a growing field of practice that is bringing stakeholders with very different values and perspectives together across differences. The event will showcase real-world case studies and demonstrate how people all over the world are using this approach to find common ground and solve problems. Community-based collaborative conservation is small-“d” democracy in action and produces more impactful, enduring outcomes than top-down decision making about natural resource conflicts.\nEvent organizers will also share an exciting new fellowship opportunity for Spring 2026, with applications opening in January. All students will be eligible to apply to the Common Ground Fellowship, regardless of major or academic level. This unique program will blend structured mentorship from professionals working in collaborative conservation with small-group training in leadership, communication, storytelling, and more. If you’d like to learn more about the fellowship, and how building skills in collaborative conservation can prepare students for careers of impact in an increasingly divided world, RSVP for the Common Ground Seminar ( https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSddePx9iTsoiZEuIBGw21AchzVMblSPc7jtlPxH1atsmCMtvg/viewform ) today.\n
