Branching Out: Peer Support Session

Thursday, May 16th | 1:30 – 3:00pm

A primary goal of the Branching Out series is to facilitate relationship-building between collaboratives across Colorado, so they can share stories and learn from one another. We also envision Branching Out as a space for people to share current challenges they are facing and seek advice from folks who ‘get it’. In this presentation-free session, we invite you to bring both your challenges and your wisdom to the table; we’ll engage in several activities designed to facilitate shared learning and problem-solving.

Branching Out: Colorado Forest Resilience Planning Guide Focus Group

Tuesday, June 25th | 1:30 – 3:00pm

In 2023, the Colorado Forest Health Council passed a recommendation to create the Colorado Forest Resilience Planning Guide. Primarily geared toward local government and community-level, while being broadly understandable to a range of stakeholders interested in advancing pre-fire planning and building forest health resiliency, this document aims to guide Colorado communities through:

  • Identifying their own needs to promote resilient forests
  • Connecting with key organizations to collaboratively develop objectives and priorities around those needs
  • Narrowing which tools, activities, and technical and financial resources can be leveraged and combined them to accomplish their unique plans

In this focus group discussion, we’ll share information about the ongoing development of the Colorado Forest Resilience Planning Guide, collect feedback on the basic framework of the guide, and crowdsource “pro-tips” and common challenges faced when planning and coordinating forest management strategies to mitigate and recover from common disturbances at a county and/or landscape scale. The disturbances of interest are inclusive of wildfire, pests and pathogens, recreation, and more.

Please join us and spread the word! Tell your colleagues that now is the time to share ideas and resources for the Forest Resilience Planning Guide!
