Building Capacity for Collaborative Conservation:
Findings from a Practitioner Needs Assessment  of Collaborative Capacity in the American West.

During fall 2016 and winter 2017, Heather Knight, Associate Director of the Practitioner Program at the Center for Collaborative Conservation, completed a needs assessment of collaborative capacity in conservation practitioners.  The report covers the findings from interviews with 64 conservation practitioners on important skills and tools in collaborative conservation, best methods for delivering these skills and tools, and the gaps in current capacity to build this skills and tools. This needs assessment serves as the foundation for developing a new Practice Program within the Center for Collaborative Conservation and developing an action plan to close the gap in collaborative capacity in conservation practitioners. The Program and the Action Plan are designed by practitioners, for practitioners.
